Christmas gift ideas from the Yarra Valley

The countdown is on to Christmas… so clean out your chimney and decorate your tree – it’s time to spread some joy! After the year that was 2020, it’s the least we deserve. If you’re like us you probably find it hard to find great gifts for family and friends. So we’re helping you out with our list of great stocking-stuffers from the wonderful Yarra Valley. Not only will they fill the hearts (and bellies) of your loved ones, but you’ll also be helping out local businesses who have also had a rough year.

So without further ado, here are our Christmas gift ideas from the Yarra Valley.

Vino-infused Gin

The name Rochford has become synonymous with great wine and rocking concerts in the vineyards, but did you know they also make gin? They’ve infused their Chardonnay, Shiraz and Pinot Noir into Gin – giving you a great new way to experience the Rochford flavours. The three Gins come in 700ml bottles and can be ordered online. Or for a great experience, order a Gin gift pack  that includes dried fruit, gin glasses and a tasting & recipe pack.

A Gingerbread Challenge

This one’s for the kids (or the big kids – we all know a few of those). Build your own gingerbread house with this handy kit from the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie. Famous for their crazy and colourful chocolate creations, the Chocolaterie is the ultimate place to grab some Christmas gifts. Take on The Block-style challenge of constructing and decorating a gingerbread house and if it doesn’t quite pass the inspection or please the judges – hey, at least it will still taste great!

Fiery Fetas

The marinated fetas from Yarra Valley Dairy are crowd-pleasers for sure. You can stick to the classics like the Persian Feta. Or if you want to put a bit of zing in your mate’s Christmas – throw them a Fiery or Hot Cow. That’s right – “throw your mate a Hot Cow”. The fresh cows milk curd has fresh chives, parsley, garlic and chilli – a perfect topping for crusty bread or crackers. Or break out the corn chips and add a dash of Fiery – a feta marinated with garlic and chilli.

Nutty Nougat

Ok, this one’s a little bit cheeky because it’s not actually made in the Yarra Valley – but it is sold at Yarra Farm Fresh! Buckshot Nougat is made in Heathcote (not too far away) and is a delicious little packet of joy that makes you smile with every bite. It’s a favourite with our guests on tour when we head to Yarra Farm Fresh. One little bite of this nougat to finish off our tasting sessions, and the bars start jumping off the shelf and into people’s shopping bags! A perfect stocking-stuffer for any foodie!
