What You’ll Do

Experience two of Victoria’s most iconic attractions in one unforgettable day, combining the heritage charm of the Puffing Billy steam train with the spectacular coastal scenery and wildlife of Phillip Island.

Your day begins in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges, arriving at Belgrave Station, the starting point of your Puffing Billy adventure. Explore the historic station, snap photos with the iconic steam locomotive, and soak up the atmosphere before climbing aboard.

Ride the famous Puffing Billy Railway through towering forests and fern-filled gullies. Enjoy the unique experience of dangling your legs from the open-sided carriage as the train crosses the historic Monbulk Creek Trestle Bridge and winds its way through the Dandenong Ranges.

Arrive at Lakeside, where you’ll have time to explore the peaceful surrounds of Emerald Lake Park. Wander through the park, visit the Lakeside Visitor Centre, or relax at the café before returning to Melbourne for a short break.

In the afternoon, rejoin your tour and journey to The Nobbies on Phillip Island. Walk along the coastal boardwalks and take in sweeping views across Bass Strait, Western Port Bay and Seal Rocks, home to Australia’s largest colony of fur seals.

As the sun begins to set, arrive at the world-famous Penguin Parade. Watch as hundreds of little penguins emerge from the ocean and make their way across the beach to their burrows in one of Australia’s most memorable wildlife experiences.

Return to Melbourne later in the evening after a day filled with historic rail travel, beautiful scenery, dramatic coastline, and unforgettable wildlife encounters.
