Meet our Team
Founder & Managing Director
Hi, as the founder and managing director of Go West Tours, I’m delighted that you’re looking at this page and learning more about our amazing team. I started in travel as a European tour manager in 1997, but my passion for sharing interesting information and good times with people dates back much further. In past lives, I have worked as a swimming pool and spa installer, gas consumption analyst, and mail sorter, so I’m truly grateful that I managed to find and settle in the travel industry. When not working to continuously improve and grow Go West Tours, you might find me on (or nearby) a cricket field, or perhaps enjoying a full-bodied red wine with some friends.
I grew up in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne and spent a lot of my childhood visiting the Great Ocean Road on family holidays. I love experiencing new cities and countries, eating out, spending time at the beach, and playing music. I started out as an intern at Go West in 2015 during my second year of university while studying Tourism, Hospitality, and Financial Planning. My role has changed quite a bit since then and I now manage the reservations department with help from our fantastic Go West family.
I was born in Melbourne, along with the travel bug. I’ve lived in Germany, America, and India, but still call Australia home. Travelling any place I haven’t been is always at the top of my list! Performing arts is also a lifelong passion, from musical theatre to ballroom and Bollywood dancing. I’ve been at Go West for many years now as I enjoy the work environment and amazing team I work with. I like staying active and busy, which is also great in this role!
I grew up in a small country town in NSW. My parents were big travellers and they are definitely the reason that I caught the travel bug at such an early age and it has been a big part of my life ever since. I started with Go West in 2013 as a tour guide and have progressed over time to my current role as operations manager. The things I love about my job are working with the most awesome team of people at Go West, and meeting amazing people from around the world and showing them just how spectacular Australia is.
Tour Guide & Operations Supervisor
I grew up in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges, right near the iconic Puffing Billy Railway. I started as a casual guide at Go West all the way back in 2010! I am now full time and divide my role between operations and guiding work. I have always loved the freedom that this job provides, being out in an amazing office and enjoying the great outdoors, as well as meeting amazing and interesting people from around the globe and sharing stories with them. I have always been interested in sports and the outdoors, I play some social sport (netball–gladiatorial I know) each week, and try and get out and explore on walks and hikes around Melbourne when I can.
Tour Guide & Operations Supervisor
I grew up in Sydney, Australia. I’ve travelled and lived in many places around the globe but finally settled in beautiful Melbourne two years ago, when I made the switch from being a mechanic to a tour guide for Go West. I haven’t looked back. I love being outdoors, meeting new people from around the world, and showing our guests some amazing Australian sights. I’ve now become part of the operations team, which I also really enjoy. When I’m not at work I am usually planning my next travel adventure, hiking, cycling, swimming, snowboarding, snorkelling, or diving (pretty much anything outdoors).
I grew up in North Queensland then, at 20 years old, I left for my gap year to work in the ski fields of Canada. Five years and three countries later, I ended up settling in Melbourne and now I wouldn’t live anywhere else. I love the foodie culture – especially the coffee! Since joining the reservations team in August 2018, I have enjoyed talking to people from all around the world and helping them to discover the fantastic natural attractions of Victoria. When I’m not at work, I can be found either wandering around one of Melbourne’s second-hand shops or basking in the sunshine somewhere, ideally with a beer in hand.
I‘m Valeria and I was born and bred in Italy. I always felt lucky to live in Europe as there’s so much variety of cultures, traditions, food, and landmarks within close proximity. Some years ago I caught the travel bug and started visiting as many countries as I could. Australia was my first overseas experience, and despite many challenges, it was completely worth it. I fell in love at first sight with Melbourne, it feels so European on so many levels! Working with Go West allows me to enjoy my greatest passion for travelling and being in touch with many tourists from all over the world that want to discover the unique state of Victoria.
Tour Guide & Marketing Coordinator
I grew up in the Macedon Ranges, just outside Melbourne, and have worked in tourism both in Australia and overseas for the last ten years. Eighteen months ago I made a change from working in an office and joined the Go West team as a tour guide. It has been a fantastic experience – meeting people from all over the world and showing them some amazing locations. In particular, the Great Ocean Road is a special place for me; I used to spend my summer holidays in Torquay when I was younger, and even now on my days off you can find me packing my surfboard and driving down to the coast to catch the waves.
Born: Melbourne, Died: Yet to be determined. I like long walks along the beach, because I can only surf right-hand waves and hate paddling back out, heading to the mountains, riding my bikes, skiing in Japan and drinking single malt scotch. I’ve been with Go West for 9 years! Duties including driving, being a tour guide, and a terrible joke teller. The best thing about working for Go West is watching the smiles on the people’s faces when they discover the wonderful places we take them. When I’m not at work you can find me in bed or out on the trail.
I grew up in the blistering heat of Alice Springs, but am well and truly a chilly Melbournian now. I live in Fitzroy, an old suburb in the heart of the city, and love taking advantage of all of the food, drink, art, and good times it has to offer. Guiding with Go West allows me to scratch my ‘country kid’ itch and get out of the city a few times a week. Introducing our guests to Victoria’s stunning landscapes and giving them a taste of the beauty that we locals can sometimes take for granted is such a pleasure and a great reminder of just how lucky we are.
Tour Guide & Operations Supervisor
I was born in New Zealand so that makes me a Kiwi and (naturally) an All Blacks fan. I have been with Go West for almost two and a half years as a tour guide and occasional operations supervisor. The thing I enjoy most about tour guiding with Go West is mixing with people from many cultural and ethnic backgrounds and showing them the beautiful scenery and varied wildlife that Victoria has to offer. Meeting people from all over the world is something that ties in with my passion for travel. I have travelled to over 50 countries and love the challenge of understanding and experiencing different cultures. When I’m not behind the wheel of a bus you can often find me exploring the hundreds of kilometres of cycle trails in the Melbourne area.
I grew up in Melbourne, but I’ve also lived in Broome, Darwin, Townsville, Nowra, and Sydney. I used to be in the navy and now I am in the army reserves. I’ve been with the Go West team since June 2017. My favourite part of the job is that I get to meet new people every day and I get paid to talk! If I’m not at work, I’m drinking a cup of tea (or wine), catching up on uni assignments, and going hiking or cycling or eating. Heading out on tour is my happy place… I have so much passion, soul, and love for guiding.
Hello! I’m Katherine! I first joined the tourism industry whilst I was studying for my Bachelor of Acting in Perth. I’m an actor… so safe to say I needed another job. I joined the Go West team early in 2018, where I’ve happily been a tour guide all year! When I’m not driving, you’ll find me on stage, eating out in Melbourne, or you might spot me selling 7-11 coffee on TV. I also enjoy rock climbing and giving all of my guests the best experiences possible on tour! 😉
G’day! Kenshi is my name – it’s Japanese. I was born and raised in Fremantle, Western Australia and I have two young boys. I enjoy boxing and drinking… usually in that order! I am a proud Go West tour guide and driver. My favourite part of any tour is conversing with the guests. When I’m not entertaining tourists, I am being a dad and husband or I’m on shift as a firefighter for the Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade. I enjoy travelling myself, and I am very excited about helping to make your day on the road with Go West Tours a great one!
I moved from the Netherlands to Melbourne two years ago, after falling in love with both Australia and an Australian man. I feel lucky to have ended up in such a spectacular country! Melbourne is a great city to explore and discover in, and eventually, I turned that hobby into my job and started leading walking tours through its laneways. A few months ago, I started working with Go West and now I’m thrilled to call the Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island my “office”. My favourite part of guiding is seeing everyone’s reactions when they see something for the first time – whether it’s a koala, a roo, or a fantastic view!
I’m Yazmin! Originally I came from an entertainment background – working in theme parks, resorts, and on cruise ships. I grew up in sunny Queensland, but in 2017 I decided to embrace the cold and move to the most vibrant and amazing city of Australia ±—Melbourne. When you join me on tour you can expect lots of stories, sing-alongs, and fun facts about wildlife and the surroundings. I love working for Go West Tours, meeting new people from all over the world, and taking them to some of the most breath-taking parts of Australia.
Hi, I’m Scott and I’m an outdoors guy with a hint of nerd. I love finding new adventures to take me to remote and strange places, usually on a bike. I also love spending time fly fishing in remote rivers. I’m a husband and a dad with two beautiful kids who come with me on lots of adventures. Being a guide with Go West gives me the opportunity to spend more time outside showing visitors around our beautiful country. I love a chat about your adventures and I am also pretty guilty of some serious dad jokes!
