Day 1 – Relax in the City
For your first day in the city, it time to sleep in before stepping out onto the city streets in search of some brunch. Melbourne is renowned for its cafes and coffee, and Melburnians love the breakfast / lunch combo – brunch. Check out our pick of Melbourne’s top cafes to try one for yourself.
Next you can wander the city’s street and laneways to check out the best street art. Around every corner you can find fantastic murals, paintings and graffiti. You might even see some of the artists in action! The best laneways for street art are AC/DC Lane, Meyers Place, Blender Lane and Union Lane.
In the afternoon you might like to check out on of Melbourne’s galleries or museums, or head back to your hotel to relax.
In the evening check out one of the shows playing in Melbourne’s theatre precinct. You have your choice of theatres and there may even be an event like the Comedy Festival or Fringe Festival on. Right by Melbourne’s theatre precinct is Chinatown and Lonsdale Street, home to many Greek restaurants. These are the perfect places to indulge in dinner before or after your show.
Day 2 – Day Tour to the Peninsula Hot Springs
This will be the ultimate day of indulgence during your trip to Melbourne – a tour to the Peninsula Hot Springs. This idyllic location is just one hours drive from Melbourne CBD, meaning you have more time to relax and enjoy the destination without having to travel too far.
This tour combines a relaxing spa morning with an afternoon of sightseeing, in Melbourne’s favourite seaside playground. The Mornington Peninsula is famous for its idyllic beaches, seaside towns and of course, natural hot springs.
On tour you will enjoy a morning of relaxation and pampering at the award-winning Peninsula Hot Springs. You can choose from hot pools, a reflexology walk, cold dip pools, massage showers and more. There’s even a Turkish Bath House and a Hilltop Pool with 360° views of the surrounding farmland and ocean.
After you are well and truly relaxed, your tour guide will take you into the township of Sorrento. Here you can take a lunch break at one of the cafes or restaurants – or even grab some fish and chips to eat at the beach.
After lunch your tour guide will take you to explore some of the Peninsula’s best lookouts including the Millionaire’s Walk, London Bridge and Arthurs Seat Lookout and the Mt Martha Bathing Boxes.
Day 3 – Shopping and Street Art
Indulge in shopping at some of the most nostalgic Melbourne laneways – the Block Arcade and Royal Arcade.
The Block Arcade is a European-inspired shopping arcade with mosaic-tiled floors, painted ceilings, wrought ironwork and a domed, glass ceiling. The arcade is between Collins Street and Little Collins Street and also connects to Block Place, another laneway with shops and cafes. Royal Arcade
Royal Arcade opened in 1870 and is the oldest shopping arcade in Australia. The most famous retailer to be housed there was was jeweller Thomas Gaunt & Co. He created the giant clock house within the arcade. The clock has two biblical figures Gog and Magog, who stand alongside the clock’s bells and strike them every hour.
Finish off your day with a drink at Melbourne’s quintessential CBD rooftop bar. Literally called Rooftop Bar, it is an icon of Melbourne dining and bar scene. You’ll find an eclectic mix of bar-goers – including dogs which are allowed in as well.
